John 13:34-35 (ESV)

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Our Purpose

Commandment 11 Ministries is a music ministry based in Simpsonville, South Carolina that began in January 2005. It is a non-profit organization and operates entirely on faith.  When the ministry began, most of their engagements were at churches and youth events. While that remains a vital part of the ministry, in 2007 they experienced a dramatic shift in their  focus when the Lord began opening doors for them to go into prisons and recovery centers. In these environments they have the opportunity to let inmates and addicts know that there is forgiveness and cleansing available to them through the Cross of Jesus Christ. They now spend over 50% of their time on the road doing missions work in these desperate settings.

Scott Jacobs is the director and co-founder of Commandment 11. He and his wife, Tara, live in Simpsonville with their two children. When they are not on the road doing ministry work, they are at home overseeing the daily operations of the ministry. As a songwriter and music missionary, Scott has committed himself to composing music that is bathed in scripture but remains musically relative for those individuals the ministry is reaching in prisons, rehabs, and church pews. According to Scott, “There is so much music out there for people to listen to based on somebody else’s advice or life experience. While there might not be a thing wrong with that, we want our music to express God’s advice for us and the lifestyle and love of Jesus.”

Commandment 11 is currently working on its 5th CD entitled “Finish Strong.” The songs were all written or co-written by Scott and relate to many of the everyday struggles and difficulties that are experienced by followers of Christ. It is the prayer of this ministry and its board of directors that when people listen to the music of C11, they won’t just be stimulated by catchy melodies or intricate harmonies, but they will have their hearts transformed by the living and powerful Word of God.
